Delay thay đổi giờ bay dường như là một đặc sản của các bay Việt Nam. Khi delay giờ bay sẽ làm thay đổi ít nhiều kế hoạch chuyến đi của hành khách. Chính vì thế theo quy định hiện nay, khi hãng bay delay quá lâu sẽ phải có những bồi thường cho hành khách.
Theo quy định bồi thường cho hành khách trong trường hợp chuyến bay bị delay như sau: mức bồi thường từ 200.000 – 400.000vnd cho chặng bay nội địa và 25 – 100USD cho chặng quốc tế.
Ngoài ra, trong thời gian chờ đợi, hãng phải phục vụ ăn uống cho hành khách theo thời gian chậm hay hủy chuyến.
Cụ thể, chậm từ 2 giờ phải phục vụ nước uống, từ 3 giờ phải phục vụ từ 6 giờ trở lên (đối với chuyến bay từ 7h đến trước 22h) phải bố trí nơi nghỉ phù hợp với điều kiện thực tế tại sân bay.
Với trước hợp chậm trên 6 giờ vào ban đêm (từ 22h hôm trước đến 7h sáng hôm sau), hãng phải bố trí chỗ ngũ nghỉ ngơi phù hợp.
Đồng thời, hãng hàng không có trách nghiệm chuyển đổi hành trình của hành khách trong phạm vi cung cấp dịch vụ của mình để hành khách đến điểm đến nhanh chóng và thuận tiện.
Bên cạnh đó, theo quy định này có 4 mức bồi thường đối với chuyến bay trong nước và 4 mức đối với chuyến bay quốc tế, căn cứ vào độ dài chuyến bay.
Theo đó, mức bồi thường hủy, chậm chuyến kéo dài đối với đường bay trong nước là từ 200.000 đồng/người/đường bay dưới 1.000 km đến 400.000 đồng/người/đường bay từ 1.000 km.
Đối với đường bay quốc tế, mức bồi thường từ 25 USD/người/đường bay dưới 1.000 km đến là 150 USD/người/đường bay trên 5.000 km.
Việc bồi thường được thực hiện bằng tiền mặt, vé miễn cước hoặc chuyển khoản cho hành khách.
Thực tế nhiều người cho rằng mức bồi thường này chỉ mang tính tượng trưng và chỉ bồi thường khi thời gian delay quá lâu và ảnh hưởng không nhỏ đến chuyến đi và công việc của hành khách.
